Xolair is a drug that can help alleviate three allergy-related conditions: allergic asthma, chronic hives, and chronic rhinosinusitis with nasal polyps. Although other treatments exist for each of these conditions, they may be ineffective, in which case Xolair should be used.
While the asthma and hives are self-explanatory, many have not heard of chronic rhinosinusitis with nasal polyps. Nasal polyps are small “bumps” that form in one’s nose or in their sinuses. The symptoms are myriad, ranging from a stuffy nose to pain the face to postnasal drip. This condition, though not life-threatening, can certainly lower one’s quality of life, and Xolair can be used to treat it.
Xolair is a drug that certain patients can use at home by injecting themselves. Injections should take place about once a month.
